Group Discussion: Introducing Yourself

Introduce yourself to your tutor and your classmates. Please make sure you mention:

Can AI solve it?

Choose one of the following tasks (or, a different task of your own choice):

  5. Discover & prove new mathematical theorems

  8. Give competent legal advice in a specialised area of law
  9. Translate spoken English into Chinese (or Swedish) in real time
  10. Perform a complex surgical operationC

Do a Web search and conclude whether or not AI can presently solve the task. If not, please describe what difficulties or challenges remain, and try to predict when, if ever, these difficulties will be overcome.

Embodied Agents

The Nao robot is currently used in the RoboCup Soccer Standard Platform League:

Suppose you have been asked to form a new team to compete in the RoboCup SPL. You are given the robot, with only a basic Linux operating system, without any software to actually run the robot. What are the main software modules that the team has to write to get a team of five robots to play. They can communicate with each other but WiFi, but you are not allowed to control them remotely.
